These Terms & Conditions apply to Portuguese language courses and accommodation provided by GoBrazil School in Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil.

By submitting an application and booking a course or accommodation with GoBrazil, the student confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1. Booking and Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once GoBrazil has accepted the student’s application and the required deposit has been received.

GoBrazil will send a booking confirmation and a welcome email containing relevant information about the course, accommodation and arrival.

A booking made through a travel agency or language agency is also subject to the terms and conditions of the agreement between the student and the agency.

2. Deposit and Payment

A deposit of 25% of the total course and accommodation fee is required to reserve a place.

The remaining balance must be paid within three working days after arrival, unless another payment arrangement has been agreed with GoBrazil in advance.

When payment is made by bank transfer or another service that charges transfer or transaction fees, the student is responsible for all fees associated with the payment.

3. Cancellation by the Student

If the student cancels their booking more than 30 days before the scheduled arrival date, the 25% deposit will be refunded.

If the student cancels 30 days or less before the scheduled arrival date, the deposit is non-refundable.

This cancellation policy is subject to any mandatory cancellation or withdrawal rights provided by applicable law.

4. Changes to Booking Dates

Students may request a change to their course or accommodation dates.

Changes are subject to availability. If suitable places are available, GoBrazil will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the requested change.

If the requested dates are not available and the student is unable to accept alternative dates, the cancellation conditions in Section 3 apply.

A change of dates is not guaranteed until it has been confirmed by GoBrazil in writing.

5. Early Departure

If a student leaves before the end of the booked course or accommodation period, no refund will be provided for any unused course, accommodation or other services.

6. Missed Classes

Students are responsible for attending their scheduled classes.

No refund or make-up class is provided for classes missed by the student, regardless of the reason for the absence.

A missed class is considered a used class.

If a class cannot take place because of a national or regional public holiday observed by GoBrazil, the missed lesson will be replaced where reasonably possible and in agreement with the teacher.

7. Public Holidays

GoBrazil observes Brazilian national holidays and relevant regional holidays, including holidays such as Carnival and São João.

The school will inform students about scheduled holidays and, where applicable, arrange replacement lessons in agreement with the teacher.

8. Course Level and Group Placement

GoBrazil may assess a student’s Portuguese level before or at the beginning of the course.

Students enrolled in group courses are placed in groups according to their language level and the available group structure.

GoBrazil may recommend a different course format if this is considered more appropriate for the student’s level or learning needs.

9. Accommodation

Accommodation is provided according to the type and dates confirmed in the student’s booking.

Students staying at GoBrazil are required to respect the GoBrazil House Rules, which form part of the accommodation conditions.

The House Rules cover matters including cleanliness, smoking, visitors, quiet hours, use of shared facilities, meals, laundry and safety.

Students may not allow another person to stay overnight in their room without prior permission from GoBrazil.

10. Pets and Allergies

GoBrazil is a home-based school and accommodation where cats and dogs live on the premises.

Students are responsible for informing GoBrazil in advance about relevant allergies or other requirements that may affect their stay.

GoBrazil cannot guarantee an environment completely free from animal allergens.

11. Food and Dietary Requirements

Where breakfast and lunch are included in the student’s accommodation package, meals are provided according to the conditions of that package.

Students should inform GoBrazil about vegetarian, vegan, allergy-related or other dietary requirements in advance so that meals can be planned and appropriate food can be purchased.

GoBrazil cannot guarantee that all dietary requirements can be accommodated in every circumstance and may contact the student before arrival if clarification is necessary.

12. Alcohol, Drugs and Behaviour

Students must not consume alcohol before or during Portuguese lessons.

Students must not possess or use illegal drugs on GoBrazil premises.

A student who arrives at class under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused participation in the class without a refund or make-up lesson.

Students are expected to behave respectfully towards other students, teachers, staff, neighbours and members of the household.

GoBrazil may exclude a student from classes or accommodation in cases of serious or repeated misconduct, harassment, threats, violence, illegal activity or behaviour that significantly disrupts the school or the living environment.

If a student is excluded from classes or accommodation due to serious or repeated misconduct, no refund will be provided for any unused course, accommodation or other services.

This does not affect any rights the student may have under applicable law.

13. Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside the GoBrazil building.

Students who smoke must use the designated smoking areas and dispose of cigarette butts properly.

Further information is provided in the GoBrazil House Rules.

14. Damage to Property

Students are expected to treat GoBrazil’s property, rooms, furniture, equipment and belongings with reasonable care.

A student may be required to compensate GoBrazil for damage caused intentionally or through negligent behaviour or violation of the House Rules.

Normal wear and tear is not considered damage for which the student is responsible.

15. Personal Belongings

Students are responsible for their own personal belongings, valuables, documents, money and electronic devices.

GoBrazil is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings unless such responsibility cannot legally be excluded.

Students should take reasonable precautions to keep their belongings safe.

16. Activities, Excursions and Local Services

GoBrazil may provide information about or help students arrange activities such as capoeira, surf, yoga, excursions and other local experiences.

Some activities are provided by independent local partners and may be subject to their own prices, schedules, safety requirements and cancellation conditions.

GoBrazil is not the provider of activities operated independently by third parties and cannot guarantee their availability or performance.

17. Volunteering and Internships

GoBrazil may help connect students with local organisations or opportunities for volunteering or internships.

Such opportunities are generally unpaid unless otherwise stated by the organisation providing the opportunity.

GoBrazil acts only as a facilitator and is not the employer, supervisor or provider of the volunteering or internship placement. The conditions of the organisation offering the placement apply.

18. Students Under 18

GoBrazil accepts students under the age of 18 only when they travel and stay together with a parent or legal guardian.

The parent or legal guardian remains responsible for the minor during the stay.

GoBrazil may request additional information or documentation from the parent or legal guardian before confirming the booking.

19. Photos, Videos and Marketing

GoBrazil may take photographs or videos during courses, activities and events.

The use of identifiable students in promotional materials is subject to the student’s applicable consent or permission.

Students may contact GoBrazil at any time if they have questions about the use of photographs or videos in which they appear.

Separate consent may be requested where required by applicable law.

20. Health and Safety

Students are responsible for informing GoBrazil of any relevant health, mobility, dietary or allergy-related requirements that may affect their participation in courses or accommodation.

Students should follow reasonable safety instructions provided by GoBrazil and its staff.

GoBrazil should be informed as soon as possible of any incident, accident or situation requiring assistance.

21. Force Majeure

GoBrazil will not be responsible for failure or delay in providing services caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, epidemics or pandemics, government measures, strikes, major infrastructure failures or other events that could not reasonably have been prevented.

Where possible, GoBrazil will work with the student to find a reasonable alternative solution.

22. Complaints and Resolution of Problems

Students are encouraged to contact GoBrazil as soon as possible if they experience a problem with their course or accommodation.

We will make reasonable efforts to resolve complaints or problems directly and amicably.

Students should give GoBrazil a reasonable opportunity to address an issue during their stay before seeking other remedies, where this is practical.

23. Liability

GoBrazil takes reasonable measures to provide a safe and appropriate learning and accommodation environment.

GoBrazil is not responsible for loss, injury, damage or disruption caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control or by the independent actions of third parties.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

24. Privacy

Personal information provided to GoBrazil is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By submitting an application, students acknowledge that they have read the Privacy Policy and understand how GoBrazil processes their personal data.

25. Applicable Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Brazil.

GoBrazil and the student will first make reasonable efforts to resolve any dispute amicably.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved by agreement, it will be dealt with in accordance with applicable Brazilian law and the competent courts.

26. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

GoBrazil may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in its services, procedures or applicable legal requirements.

The version applicable to a student’s booking is the version in effect when the booking is confirmed, unless a later change is required by law.
