GoBrazil School (“GoBrazil”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have regarding your personal data.
GoBrazil is based in Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil. Our processing of personal data is primarily governed by Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais (LGPD). Where applicable, we also take into account the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for individuals protected by European data protection law.

- Email address
- Telephone and WhatsApp number
- Mother tongue and other languages spoken
- Information about your experience with Portuguese
- Course preferences, course dates and duration
- Accommodation preferences, arrival and departure dates

We only ask for information that is relevant to providing our courses, accommodation and related services, communicating with you, and preparing for your stay.
2. Why We Collect and Use Your Information
Course and accommodation reservations
We use the information provided in the application form to process your reservation for a Portuguese course and, where requested, accommodation at GoBrazil.
We use information about your Portuguese language experience to help determine the most suitable course format, organise students into appropriate groups and prepare a programme that fits your level and needs.
We also use your course and accommodation information to organise your stay and prepare for your arrival.
Food and dietary requirements
Our accommodation package includes breakfast and lunch. We therefore ask about dietary preferences, foods you do not eat and allergies in advance so that we can plan meals appropriately and purchase the necessary food before your arrival.
Allergies and animals
GoBrazil is a home-based school and accommodation where we live together with cats and dogs. Information about animal allergies may therefore be important to help us prepare for your stay and inform you about the environment before your arrival.
Where you provide information about allergies or other health-related matters, we use it only for the purposes for which it was provided, such as preparing appropriate meals and helping to ensure a safe and appropriate stay.
Emergency contact
We ask for an emergency contact so that we can contact a person designated by the student if an emergency occurs during the student’s stay.
Emergency contact information is not retained as part of the student’s long-term records after the stay, unless there is a specific legal reason to retain it.
Communication
We use your contact details to respond to enquiries, communicate about your course or accommodation, provide practical information before and during your stay, and contact you when necessary regarding your booking.
We may also occasionally contact former students about special offers, news or other information related to GoBrazil. You may ask us not to send such communications at any time.
Statistics and business records
We may retain basic information about former students, such as their name, country, course, dates and duration of study, for historical records and statistical purposes.
We do not need to retain sensitive information for these purposes and aim to keep only information that is reasonably necessary.
3. Sensitive Personal Data
Some information you may provide to us, such as information about allergies or other health-related requirements, may constitute sensitive personal data under applicable data protection laws.
We do not ask you to provide detailed medical information unless it is relevant to your stay. If you provide information about an allergy or health-related requirement, we process it only for the specific purpose for which it is needed, such as preparing appropriate meals, considering the presence of animals at our accommodation or helping to ensure your safety during your stay.
Dietary and allergy information is not intended to become part of your permanent student record. We remove such information when it is no longer needed for your stay and include it in our regular data-cleaning process.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Depending on the circumstances, we process personal data on the basis of applicable legal grounds under the LGPD and, where applicable, the GDPR.
These may include:
- taking steps at your request before entering into a contract;
- performing a contract for a course or accommodation;
- complying with legal obligations;
- protecting your vital interests or safety where necessary;
- pursuing our legitimate interests, where permitted by applicable law; and
- your consent, where consent is required.
For sensitive personal data, we rely on the specific legal grounds required by applicable data protection law.
5. Who May Receive Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share relevant information with trusted service providers or partners when this is necessary to provide our services. This may include providers of website hosting, email, communication, analytics and other technical services.
We may also share relevant information with local partners when this is necessary to organise activities or services that you have requested.
We only share the information that is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
GoBrazil does not process payments through payment systems integrated into this website. Course and accommodation payments are arranged separately, for example by digital bank transfer or payment on arrival.
6. International Data Transfers
Some third-party services we use, such as Google Analytics or WhatsApp, may process information outside Brazil.
Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take the measures required by applicable data protection law.
7. How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
Access to personal information is limited to people who need it for legitimate GoBrazil business purposes.
However, no method of storing or transmitting information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including managing your course or accommodation, maintaining appropriate business records and complying with legal obligations.
Information that is no longer necessary for these purposes will be deleted or anonymised where appropriate, unless we have a legal reason to retain it.
Emergency contact information is normally removed after the student’s stay.
Allergy, dietary and other health-related information is removed when it is no longer needed for the student’s stay and is subject to our regular data-cleaning process.
Basic historical student information may be retained for statistical and business record purposes.
We periodically review the information we hold and aim to avoid keeping personal data for longer than necessary.
9. Your Rights
Depending on the applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
- confirm whether we process your personal data;

We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual students for our own purposes.
11. Photos and Videos
GoBrazil may use photographs or videos taken during courses, activities or events for communication and promotional purposes, including on our website and social media.
Where required by applicable law, we will obtain the appropriate permission or consent before using identifiable individuals for these purposes.
We do not use photographs of students for purposes unrelated to GoBrazil’s activities.
12. Students Under 18
GoBrazil accepts students under the age of 18 when they travel and stay together with a parent or legal guardian.
When personal data relating to a minor is collected, we take into account the specific protections applicable to children’s personal data under relevant data protection laws.
