At GoBrazil, you won’t learn Portuguese from a textbook alone. Our teachers are local Brazilians who bring their own personalities, interests and experiences into the classroom. They are not only language teachers but also your connection to Brazilian life and culture.
Our small team means that you get to know your teachers personally, while learning Portuguese through real conversations and everyday Brazilian culture. From literature and music to life on the beach, each teacher has something different to share — giving you a more varied and authentic experience of Brazil.

Malú is one of the founders of GoBrazil and a person with a big heart and a strong commitment to helping others. A medical doctor and university lecturer in Maceió, she has participated in volunteering missions both in Brazil and abroad.
Originally from São Paulo, Malú chose a quieter life by the beach in Maceió. She speaks English and French and has a deep connection with Brazil and its people. Her generous spirit and commitment to helping others have been an important part of the story behind GoBrazil.

Otávio is not just a teacher of Portuguese, but also a lawyer, book writer, psychologist and entrepreneur. His broad interests make him a master of good conversations as well. Be prepared – on his lessons you will speak a lot, in Portuguese of course!

Láris is passionate about Portuguese literature and a true book lover. She runs her own reading club and is a passionate reader, so she is the perfect person to guide you through the world of Brazilian literature. Ask her about books and authors, and she will happily help you discover something new to read in Portuguese.

Bia is a Portuguese teacher and a musician who plays in a local band, making her a wonderful guide to the cultural life of Maceió. She can introduce you to the city’s music scene, local culture and the places where Maceió comes alive.
And if you want to experience Brazilian beach culture for yourself, Bia can also introduce you to altinha, a popular beach game

Originally from Russia but Brazilian at heart, Svetlana is the administrative manager of the school. She will be your first point of contact with GoBrazil and will help you with everything related to courses, accommodation, visas and life in Brazil.
Svetlana came to Brazil in 2013 in search of the traditional practice of capoeira, the Brazilian martial art. Since then, Brazil has never let her leave and has become her true second home.

Márcia is fan of Portuguese language. She also teaches Portuguese at secondary school, and knows all the peculiarities and regularities of the language. She will resolve all your most difficult doubts about grammar.

Maria and Ize are our cooks and will treat you to delicious local food during your stay. Marcus is our gardener and the team’s “man for all things” — always ready to lend a hand and keep everything running smoothly.
They all work hard to make your stay in Brazil as comfortable as possible. They are locals and speak only Portuguese, so if you want to practise your language skills, they will be happy to have a little small talk with you!
