Our Home in Brazil

GoBrazil is located in Garça Torta, a quiet seaside neighbourhood of Maceió. It is away from the busy tourist areas and has a relaxed, local atmosphere, with the beach just a short walk away. Despite its peaceful setting, Garça Torta is easily connected to the rest of Maceió by bus or Uber.

Originally, the property was a traditional Brazilian house with a large, wild garden. We have kept much of the garden in its natural state, creating a green and peaceful environment around the house. After reconstruction, the accommodation was expanded with a guest house offering six cosy private rooms, each with its own bathroom and shower. Each room has Wi-Fi access and a fan for cooling, but there is no air conditioning.

Portuguese classes take place in a comfortable common room, which is also used for other activities and gatherings. Another common space is our ocean-view veranda, where students can get together, relax in the hammocks or enjoy the sun. There is a small shared kitchen with basic cooking facilities, as well as a washing machine available for students.

Breakfast and lunch combine Brazilian and European influences. Breakfast is simple and includes coffee, milk, tea, bread, butter, jam and seasonal fruit. For lunch, we serve Brazilian favourites such as rice and different kinds of beans, accompanied by vegetables, meat and other local dishes. Vegetarian and vegan meals are available upon request.

We share our home with two friendly dogs and three cats, who are part of everyday life here and are always happy to meet new people.
